The following topics will be presented to fire investigators and law enforcement personnel:

Crime scene investigators are trained to collect evidence from general crime scenes, but fire scenes present challenges and variability which are not regularly encountered by crime scene personnel. Additionally, the viability of forensic evidence recovery in such environments is not always fully understood by investigators. This lecture will cover general crime scene investigation topics, types of evidence frequently located at crime scenes, fundamental evidence collection techniques, and fire scene evidence collection methods. Topics will also include the recoverability of certain types of evidence from fire scenes, particularly techniques for the recovery of friction ridge detail.
