Nicolas Craven of C2 Quality Solutions, Nikki Wagar of Ridgeline Forensics, and Tyler Fee (an aspiring new forensic scientist) have partnered with the PNWD-IAI to perform a special research project/pilot study into examiner ability to recognize distortion in latent impressions
CHECK OUT WHAT THEY’RE UP TO!

A research project on how well examiners recognize and identify distortion in latent prints will be conducted by Forensic Analysts Nicolas Craven of C2 Quality Solutions and Nikki Wagar of Ridgeline Forensics, partnering with Tyler Fee as an intern participant.
This research study will focus on the examination of friction ridge detail distortion and compare novice ability to latent print examiners. Participation in the study will be brief and should not require more than approximately 30 minutes to complete. Each participant will analyze 21 latent prints for distortion aspects. Data will then be compiled to determine any correlations regarding the rate of correct distortion selections and any future research value on the topic. No names will be recorded in association with the information gathered and every effort will be made to keep all collected data private.
Participation in this research is completely voluntary and participation may be discontinued at any time during the examination process. Any questions about this research project can be directed to Ridgeline Forensics through the Contact Page.
